2009 Gibraltar Rock Pinot Noir

Campbell Mattinson and Gary Walsh, The Big Red Wine Book 2010/2011

“Gentle wine of fluidity and good balance. Very fine-grained tannins – and lovely soft mouthfeel. Bright red fruits, nutty oak, touch of earth, hint of mint and mixed peel. Ripe and open with an excellent dose of rasberried juiceness. Some herbal stuff too – and slightly bitter on the end. But good all up. This is the one to drink as a youngster." 92 Points

James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion 2011

"Full red-purple, bright and clear; a powerful pinot with undeniable black plum varietal character and unusually complex structure on the long finish..."  94 Points

Ray Jordan, West Weekend, The West Australian

"Comes off an old biodynamically managed vineyard in the Porongurups. Classically structured pinot, displaying a fine, firm, bony thread of acid and fine-grained tannin with just the faintest subtle hint of oak. The nose displays a beautifully spicy, black cherry character while the seamless palate winds a mix of cherry, truffle and earthiness into its elegant texture. A wine of real class." 97 Points

 John Jens, Western Suburbs Weekly

This is from Peter and Sandy Honey's significant vineyard plantings in the Porongurups. This is powerful, classy, crafted and long. Despite the powerful structure, there is elegance. The fruit is of some quality and the wine making is brilliant. This is supple, modern and even in a masked tasting shows new world textures. This is long and seamless and has very fine tannins. This is very good for Australian pinot noir. Yep, the west's pinot noir movement is alive and well... and the wines will only get better. 18.5 Points

91 Points, David Schildknecht, Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate
