2008 Great Southern Chardonay

James Halliday, Australian Wine companion 2010
"Grapefruit and stone fruit aromas give some clue of what is to come, but the wine literally explodes on the palate with the urgency of its thrust and energy; oak, nectarine, grapefruit and touches of cashew all coalesce on the finish."

"The 2007 vintage was an impressive debut. This vintage, I think, is a little better again. It’s a light wine and one best characterised by its calmness and lack of excess. There’s almond paste, apple and grapefruit with a glaze of honeycomb and a fair lick of quality spicy oak. Glossy and minerally at once, fine boned and delicate, with a lovely flinty finish. Touch and go for an (even) higher rating."

"Sourced from Southern Porongurups fruit. After a quick settling without enzymes, the must is run off straight to barrel with a high degree of turbidity. This is a limpid yet creamy wine (100% malo) with custard apple and white peach. A tangy finish shows honey/nougat notes."

Ralph Kyte-Powell, The Age Epicure, Febuary 2010
“A fascinating wine from an exciting French-Australian collaboration in southern WA, this forceful chardonnay combines white peach, candied fruit and citrus-like qualities with integrated nutty oak, creamy winemaking inputs and yeasty richness. It has superb texture and impact, with an incredibly long, aromatic aftertaste.
Drink over two years.”
